RJ's Goals For LD 14 - Suffolk County

Suffolk County is currently grappling with several significant challenges:

1. Infrastructure and Environmental Resilience:

Recent severe storms have led to substantial flooding, damaging homes, businesses, and infrastructure.

2. Public Safety and Crime:

The county has faced public safety concerns, including high-profile criminal cases. For instance, the prosecution of the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer has strained local resources, with the District Attorney’s office seeking additional federal funds to manage the case.

3. Economic Development and Taxation:

Balancing economic growth with a manageable tax burden remains a priority. Efforts to stimulate the local economy while ensuring fiscal responsibility are ongoing.

My core principles are —limiting government intervention, fiscal responsibility, and local empowerment.

RJ on the Issues:

Infrastructure and Environmental Resilience

Private-Public Partnerships: I will encourage collaborations between private enterprises and government entities to fund and implement infrastructure projects, enhancing efficiency and reducing taxpayer burden.

RJ on the Issues:

Regulatory Reform & Local Control

In my work as Deputy Mayor of the Village of Lindenhurst, I have been very effective at streamlining environmental regulations to expedite rebuilding efforts while maintaining necessary protections.

I am always seeking to empower local governments to make decisions on infrastructure priorities, ensuring that solutions are tailored to our community's needs.

Public Safety & Crime

Resource Allocation: I have and will always advocate for the reallocation of existing resources to support law enforcement agencies, ensuring our men and women in blue have the tools needed to address crime effectively.

Community Engagement: I will continue to promote community policing initiatives to build trust between law enforcement and residents, fostering cooperation in crime prevention.

Judicial Efficiency: I support reforms aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays in the judicial system, ensuring swift and fair trials.

Economic Development and Taxation

Tax Incentives: I am a firm believer in targeted tax incentives to attract businesses, stimulate job creation, and broaden the tax base.

Spending Cuts: I think it is important to identify and eliminate wasteful government spending to reduce the tax burden on residents and businesses.

Deregulation: It is important to simplify business regulations to encourage entrepreneurship and make it easier for small businesses to thrive.
